17th Annual Extension Banquet

17th Annual Extension Banquet

The 17th Annual Extension Banquet, sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Llano County and the Llano County Leadership Advisory Board, will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church Activity Center (Schorlemmer Hall) in Llano.  The Leadership Advisory Board is composed of individuals who serve on committees which give direction to the Texas A&M AgriLife  Extension Service’s programs in Llano County.

This year’s speaker will be Mike Barr, Special Ranger with the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.  Mr. Barr is stationed in Fredericksburg, TX.  TSCRA special rangers are commissioned through the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Special rangers investigate theft of cattle, horses, saddles, trailers, equipment, and even poaching.  They pursue white-collar criminals who commit agricultural fraud, they inspect livestock to determine ownership and prevent theft after a natural disaster such as wildfire, flood or hurricane, they determine the ownership of estray or stray livestock, and they educate landowners on how to prevent theft and spoil the plans of thieves.  We feel this would be an educational and interesting presentation for residents of Llano County.

A variety of award recipients within the Llano County Extension program will be recognized as well.

A catered meal will be served by the Llano County Leadership Advisory Board.  There is no charge to attend, but donations to help with the cost of the meal will be greatly appreciated.

Please join us for an enjoyable evening featuring a great speaker and the opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP by August 10 to the Extension Office at 325-247-5159 or 325-247-4849, or you can e-mail Vivian at vhorlen@ag.tamu.edu or Corena at corena.brown@ag.tamu.edu
