PRESS RELEASE - For Immediate Publication:

Lakeshore Library welcomes writer and world traveler Stephen Roberts on Monday, October 16 at 2:30 p.m. Over the last two years, Stephen has been working with his friend Yinyin Chen on a book about her family. The story begins with Yinyin’s grandmother as a child in the late 1800s in a small village near Shanghai, and follows the fortunes of the family through kidnapping, revolution, Japanese invasion, civil war, famine, the Cultural Revolution, and many other challenges. The book is called My Family and I: 1895 to 2010 and is available at Lakeshore Library.

Stephen Roberts was born in England and came to the United States in 1991 to work as a software developer. After retiring, he moved to the Texas Hill Country and now spends his time “traveling the world, writing, and quietly searching for some unknown thing that constantly draws him onward.” He has recently returned from another trip to China.

Stephen will discuss the book, the process of collaboration, and observations from his travels at this free program. Please join us for what is sure to be a fascinating afternoon. Light refreshments will be served. Call 325-379-1174 to reserve a spot.
