Armed Forces Day Celebration Lunch

On May 19, the community is invited to pay tribute to all past and present members of the US Armed Forces by attending the ARMED FORCES DAY LUNCH put on by the Llano Tea Party in conjunction with the Llano American Legion, Frank Griggs Post 370.

Armed Forces Day is celebrated the third Saturday in May.  Those who are honored on this day include people who serve the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserve units.   It was established in 1950 by President Harry Truman.

The Lunch will be a non-political event.  Our sole purpose is to honor all Armed Service Personnel.  It will be held at the Llano American Legion, 200 Legion Ave, just north of the bridge in Llano.  The Llano Junior High band will perform followed by Quilts of Valor’s presentation of 12 quilts to Veterans.  Program will also feature a presentation by the Burnet Commemorative Air Force and a talk by LTC (Ret) Michael D. Burcham, US Army.  Lunch menu will include BBQ beef sandwiches, beans, salads, chips, cookies and iced tea.

Many community businesses and non-profits have volunteered to contribute to the success of the Event.  Business contributors include Cooper's Old Time Pit BBQ, Inmann’s Kitchen, Chicken Express, HEB, and Subway.  Participating community clubs and non-profit organizations include Llano Tea Party, Highland Lakes Republican Women, Star Republican Women, Quilts of Valor and Llano Cowboy Church.

Veterans and Armed Forces personnel eat free.  Tickets for all others are $10.  All proceeds will be donated to the Llano American Legion. Tickets will be sold at the door.  Doors will open at 9:30 for coffee and cookies.  Program will start at 10 am.
