Janet Pedersen Egg Tempera Painting Demo

The monthly demo at the Llano Fine Art Guild will be held Monday, September 10th at 10:00 am. The hands on Egg Tempera Painting Demo will be presented by Janet Pedersen. Egg tempera, is a permanent, fast-drying painting medium consisting of colored pigments mixed with a water-soluble binder medium, usually glutinous material such as egg yolk.

Janet became intrigued by egg tempera when she came to love iconography.  For over a thousand years, egg tempera was the médium in which iconographers depicted Christ and the teachings of the Church. Janet found a teacher in Austin who gave a week-long introduction to egg tempera and she was “hooked”! Janet has studied with other teachers since that times. Janet’s icons are displayed in churches in Texas, in private homes, and in monasteries in the US and England. Janet also sings and spend much of her time working with fiber arts, especially quilting.

The demo cost is $5 and includes a potluck lunch at noon. The regular monthly meeting of the Llano Fine Art Guild is held at 1:00 pm the first Monday of the month.  The Llano Fine Art Guild is a 501c3 non-profit organization helping keep the arts alive in Llano for over 50 years.
