Polymer Clay Demo at Llano Fine Art Guild

Monday, June 3, 2019
10:00 am to 12 noon
$5 Llano Fine Art Guild

By the time Dakotah was 8 she was designing, knitting, crocheting and sewing clothing for her dolls and using marbles, beads, string and found objects as jewelry. She sold her first necklace - a shellacked seahorse on a red ribbon to a tourist on Galveston Island at age 10. She discovered polymer clay in 1980 and it has become her medium of choice creating jewelry, bowls, boxes, home decor and mixed media OOAK art pieces. She has been on the board of directors of the Houston Polymer Clay Guild and the International Polymer Clay Association as well as published articles for specialty polymer clay magazines. “For me, creating is about taking people to a place of joy, even if only for a few moments, to have that ‘wow!’ moment”.

During this demo she will cover all the beginner basics including conditioning properly, safety, minimum tools needed, specialty tools, proper curing, blends, simple canes, complex canes and cane reduction. If time permits she will also cover stamping into clay, how to cover objects and the liquid polymer clay applications.
