Llano County Junior Livestock Show & Art, Craft, and Food Show

                The second weekend in January 2020 is full of events involving 4-H & FFA Members from throughout Llano County.  It all begins on Thursday, January 9th when the Art, Craft & Food show will open to the public at 8am for viewing.  Contestants will show off their skills in homemade cooking, crafts, art, home décor, metal work, jewelry making, sewing, and photography.  Projects in the Art, Craft & Bake Show may be purchased by private treaty if the contestant wishes to sell them.  Sale of items will begin at noon on the 9th.

                The Livestock Show will also begin on Thursday.  It kicks off with the rabbit show at noon.  Following the rabbit show will be the poultry show, including both chickens and turkeys.  Shining Star Event will take place at 5pm. This event focuses on special needs students from all LISD campuses who wish to participate in the Livestock Show.  This is one of the most inspiring events in the show. The evening will culminate with the meat goat and sheep shows.

Continuing on Friday January 10th, the hog show will begin at 8:00am.  Immediately following the hog show, the Little Britches Showmanship Competition will take place.  Any child age 6 or younger may participate in this event.  It is a highlight of the show which allows all types of young people participate in the show.  The famous BBQ Lunch will begin at 11:00, everyone in the county is invited.  Proceeds from the BBQ will go toward paying contestants entry fees in judging contests, scholarships and camp registration fees.  The cattle show will end the day of events on Friday beginning at 1:00pm.

The Livestock Show will be capped off on Saturday, January 11th with the Premium Sale beginning at 6PM.  Community leaders, businesses and supporters come out in droves to bid on livestock projects and reward the kids for their hard work.  All of these events will take place at the John L. Kuykendall Event Center, please come support our young people!  Everyone is welcome!
