Texas AgriLife Extension - Llano County

This year’s Llano County Beef & Range Field Day is set for Tuesday, May 31, 2022.  Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the John L. Kuykendall Arena & Events Center, 2200 Ranch Road 152, about 1.7 miles west of Llano.  The program will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and there is no charge to the participant.  Coffee and donuts will be sponsored by the Hill Country Livestock Raisers’ Association.

            Topics and speakers for the sessions will be:

            *Laws and Regulations, Lary York, Regional Inspector, TDA

            * Importance of Trace Minerals Effecting Herd and Herd Health, Dr. Chris Womack, Regional Consultant Veterinarian for Multimin & Practitioner at Loc Caballos Veterinary Clinic in San Angelo.

            *Inputs and Efficiency, New Ways to Look at Stocking Rates, James Henderson, Operates the Bradley 3 Ranch.

            *Sandbur and Mesquite Control, Daniel Mielke, Area Sales Manager, Bayer Range & Pasture.    

            *Beef Cattle Pest Management, Sanja Swinger, PHD Associate Professor & Veterinary/Medical Extension Entomologist.

            A BBQ lunch will be provided by Inman’s Kitchen.  The meal is being sponsored by Arrowhead Bank, BancorpSouth Bank, Llano National Bank. 

            We will be offering three (3) continuing education units for people who have a private, commercial, or non-commercial pesticide applicators license.  These hours will be 1 in general, 1 in integrated pest management, and 1 in laws/regulations. 

            Make plans to attend this year’s field day.  Please RSVP to the Llano County Extension office at 325-247-5159 by 4:00 pm on May 27th so that we will have an accurate count for lunch.  You may also email the Llano Extension office at angie.bauer@ag.tamu.edu or corena.brown@ag.tamu.edu with your response.  This field day is a joint effort between the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Llano County, USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, and Llano County Soil & Water Conservation District.
