Limited Hands-on Demo (two easels will be set up for anyone who wants to try their hand at this technique after Judi’s demonstration)

Join us for a hands-on demonstration presented by Judi Beauford on a strategy called Modified Contour Drawing. It is a training tool to build trust between the brain and the hand. It is helpful in for drawing any complex subject, for example a bouquet of flowers.

Judi Beauford was born in Austin, but spent weekends in the hill country at her parents’ ranch. She moved full-time to the hill country north of Bertram, Texas in 2001. She was an English teacher at the middle school level for many years until retiring in 2019. Her art journey began as a child, drawing gowns she saw performers on television wearing. She did not have the courage to take art classes in school, so she sang in the choir instead. She began painting in oils in 2004, once a week with teacher Donna Bland at Hobby Lobby in Georgetown where she was teaching. Her art practice slacked off for a few years, but was renewed in 2015 after a drawing workshop in New Mexico that she still attends. The path she is on leads her to paint plein air in oils, to draw regularly in pencil, and to fool around with watercolor and gouache. Her favorite subject is a beautiful landscape, because she loves to be outside.
