Course Description: The course begins by discussing the use of a Marital History Questionnaire and its importance. We explore when a spouse’s signature will be required to convey or encumber property and the concept of homestead property in Texas. We discuss common law marriage and then we will discuss the distinction between community and separate property with specific examples, and how that effects title company requirements. We will then walk step by step through numerous examples of different marital situations involving community, separate and homestead property. We also discuss the unique Texas concept of owelty and owlety liens. The course ends with a general summary and allows a brief time for question and answer.
Cost: $10.00 for Credit or free without credit. Register and complete payment online. We do NOT accept cash or check.

What's the refund policy?
An attendee may cancel their registration up to 2 business days (48 hours) before the scheduled class and will be refunded in full. No shows will not be refunded. Funds are not transferable. No vouchers or exchanges are permitted.
What's the Provider's Cancellation policy?
The provider will notify each registered attendee of said cancellation. Acceptable forms of notification include: email, text, or call. Any classes for 10 or fewer registered Realtors maybe subject to cancelation. In situations of inclement weather the provider will notify each registered attendee of cancelation. If the provider cancels a course all funds will be refunded within 30 days of the date of cancellation.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Ron Dold
Underwriting Counsel | Westcor Land Title Insurance Company
Ron joined Westcor in July 2018 as Regional Underwriting Counsel for the Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana region. Prior to Westcor, Ron was at the Office of General Counsel of the Texas A&M University System. Ron has over 40 years’ experience in real estate related practice. He worked 17 years for two major oil companies in Houston, and prior to his time at A&M he served for 15 years as Senior Underwriting Counsel in a National Commercial Office for a major title insurance company in Houston, underwriting high liability transactions and working closely with outside counsel for all parties. Since 2006, Ron has been an active speaker on the CLE circuit in the Houston area on a variety of real estate and title insurance topics. Ron and his wife Brenda reside in Bryan, Texas.
